An Eco-Friendly Private Community on Roatan

Located mid-island on the North Shore, this 150+ acre gated beachfront residential development consists of beachfront casas, hillside and beachfront homes, homesite lots and large estate lots. Palmetto has a restaurant, community pool, hot tub and dock, kayaking, volleyball, horseback riding, massage therapy, dive center and onsite property management and rental company. Enjoy a walk on the 3 mile white sand beach. Great scuba diving and snorkeling are located right in front of Palmetto Bay Plantation.

Palmetto is NOT a hotel. Each home is individually owned, but can be rented out either as a long term rental or a short term vacation rentals. There are many rental companies on the island and some homes are rented out directly by the owners via the web. Palmetto-Bay-Plantation.com is Announced and the Fans Go Wild!

Ok! Maybe not the fans but some of the home owners sure have their knickers-in-a-knot!

It seems the Developer, the Board of Directors, the General Manager and some of the home owners would like to keep secret the inner-workings of Palmetto Bay Plantation.

Some feel that by telling the truth about the fees and rules we have here that it will inhibit their ability to sell or rent their homes. I believe it was referred to as "airing our dirty laundry".

However. Some of us feel that if prospective owner's, renter's or guests are not misinformed that this will lead to HAPPY HOME OWNERS and RENTERS!!

So in summary..
-If you rent here. Yes! there are noise and time restrictions. You want to party all night long take it back to your home and keep it inside or keep it down so that know one else can hear and complain. The restaurant is not allowed to stay open as long as you are having fun! It's a residential community with people that live here full time and need to work in the morning.

-If you rent here or rent our your home here. NO matter what company you are with. Have a rental contract. There are numerous stories of problems from deposits to payments. Just get it in writing. Common sense...huh?

-If you are purchasing a home here. Please review the annual fees and what they cover. Review past and current history. Is this not an obvious suggestion? Would you not do an "inspection" of the property you were about to purchase in the US?

-Is there crime here? Yes there is crime everywhere on the planet? Palm trees and warm water don't stop that.

- AND THE NUMBER ONE THING!!! Wear bug spray!

The purpose of this website is to help with "full transparency" of Palmetto Bay Plantation for it's homeowners, prospective buyers or guests considering staying in Palmetto.

As Palmetto Bay Plantation home owners we are hoping to help other's who have interests in Palmetto to know what is really going on here on a daily basis or to help those considering a purchase or rental in Palmetto Bay Plantation to make an informed choice.

On this website you will find the CCR's, the statutes, the current HOA fees and what they cover, the budget, introduce you to the Board of Directors, post a history of BOD and general meeting notes and put an end to a lot of the myths or mistruths circling around.

We've also included a varitey of links in regards to diving, things to do on Roatan, restaurants, tips on what to bring while vacationing here a map and assortment of articles and links to Roatan and Honduran news sources.

Our goal is to keep you up to date on current construction projects, road conditons and general all around Palmetto Bay Plantation rules and issues. We also plan to include information and articles on Roatan, the Bay Islands and Honduras. We feel it is time that Palmetto Bay Plantation has a site that represents the residents and owners of Palmetto Bay Plantation.
