Crime on RoatanWhat place doesn't have crime?? I'd walk around here at night before most cities in the US. In general though, crime here is that of opportunity. Be careful not to lay your purse, camera, passport etc, down in a crowded open aired bar or restaurant. Don't walk down deserted beaches in the middle of the night, don't pass out on the beaches, don't flash money...etc etc. All basic rules of surviving life. Palmetto Bay Plantation has 24/7 security, but that doesn't mean they can be everywhere so you should lock the doors of your home or car. Most incidents in Palmetto have been that of opportunity. Guests that leave the door unlocked to their casa while swimming in the ocean or at the beach. Home owner's that have a dog door the size of a volkswagon, but lock their dogs upstairs with them at night. Owner's that leave their front door unlocked while they are working in the back yard or those that have brought home dates only to find when they wake up in the morning that some valuables have disappeared along with the girl. Again, not rocket science. Just stay smart and not let the tropical drinks go to your head.
